What we do

Visual Arts

GAF hosts a varied programme of exhibitions offering a platform for local and regional artists. We aim to showcase a diverse range of artists from painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and crafts.   Recent artist have included Jill Mitchell, Kirstin White, Colin Bowler, Steven Foulkes and Hamble Community Collage.

Each year GAF partners with Hampshire Open Studios for a week-long exhibition of a group of artists.

GAF also runs Art Classes,  Art Workshops and Talks on Art at the GAF Centre. These cover topics such as painting for beginners and advanced artists, photography, sculpture.

Performances

GAF puts on a wide range of Live Performances, including musical concerts, gigs, comedy, and other forms of entertainment.
The GAF Centre provides an intimate club atmosphere for small groups and solo artists.
Recent events have included, the FB Pocket Orchestra, Klezmer and Hot Club of Paris.
GAF is also a hub for community music, giving performance opportunities to local players and singers. 
GAF also has its own troupe of vocalists who regularly perform operatic works such as by Gilbert and Sullivan

Heritage

One of the Charities aims is the preservation of the Grade II listed building. Alongside this obligation, GAF also supports the local heritage of Old Bursledon and the Hamble Valley.

To this end, GAF  holds events, talks, workshops and a photographic archive, about the history and heritage of the local area with special emphasis on the marine environment surrounding the GAF Centre.

Community

The GAF Centre not only meets its aims by providing arts & heritage events and activities but also hosts a range of community events. These include Coffee Mornings, Plant Sales and Fairs.
